Hi every body this is my first time posting please bear with me. I am thinking about buying a 86, 27 foot sea ray 10 foot beam. This boat has been dry docked for two years.the engins are 260 mercs. salt water cooled. I am concerned about the engins. One engin looks farly new repalced just befor the boat was winterized started nice and sounded good. The second engine is about 7  years old so he tells me no paper work. The hour clock says 500 hours. Had problems starting it but finlly started. This is the problem the engin had a tick in it we let in run for about 10 minutes still heard the tick not a knock. the seller wants 13 thousand for the boat which i think is a good price. Can anyone HELP me out with this problem and any thing else I can expect from a boat that sat for two years . boat is not in the water yet P.S the out drives look good HELP thanks joe

unless you are prepared to spend big dollars i would walk away and find a boat that is in good running condition and can be taken out for a sea trial

if you are not sure what to look for hire a marine surveyor who can check the boat for you or buy a used boat from a dealer who will stand behind what he sells

tommays

WE will go out for a sea trial but I am still concerned about that engin. Does anyone think alot will go wrong with this boat because it was dry docked for two years. What I forgot to say in my post is that everything else in the boat works. Even the Air condition. Just needs a good cleaning. I think these boats running good go for 20,000 HELP

no one can guess what might go wrong but i would be worried adout the condition of the sterndrives and prety much everything in the power train it is over 18 years old and a saltwater boat

if you can not do the repiars your self a twin engine boat can chew up a lot of money even the parts can add up to a lot of money

i dont no if this is your first boat or your tenth so i have no idea if you know what you are geting your self into

i am the orginal owner of a 1995 trailered saltwater boat and somehow it needed about 1000 dollars in parts this year between the boat and trailer but i can do all my own labor and enjoy fixing all the things that start to ware out on and older boat

tommays

If you have to Spend $5000.00 When the Tired Engine BLOWS........
You're Still $2000.00 Ahead of Your Game.........

If you Like the boat, Buy It......
It's Going to Need a Motor.....
The Only Real Question is,

When ????
