I've searched and searched and have not found this symptom. 93 Evinrude 150. Turn the key on and buzzer starts. Start the engine and buzzer keeps going. This is in the water or out. The engine can be completely cold and will still get alarm instantly. If you turn on and off the key several time(without starting) it will stop the alarm. Then start the engine and alarm will stay off for 20 seconds or so... then back on continuously. Cleaned fuel filter. When I pump the gas ball it get hard. Engine runs fine, plenty of power and RPMs are not restricted.

Any thoughts.

thanks!!!

Re: Buzzer Alarm always on

If its has VRO tank for Oil check sending unit switch. My 91 Johnson 150 did the same for a while found switch was bad. also check buzzer itself in control assy could be stuck. Looks like a relay for auto blinker contacts.

While the horn is sounding, remove the TAN wire from it. If the horn continues to sound with that TAN wire removed, the horn is faulty and will require replacing.

also at the other end of the tan wire is two sensors fitted . one in each cylinder head . if one of the sensors are open ( circuit not closed ) it will also make the warning buzzer sound . i know its a pain when stuff like this happens but its trying to tell you something is wrong . check out all the stuff above and let us know how your getting on . paul uk

Re: Buzzer Alarm always on

I am having this same problem with 95 Johnson Ocean runner. When I turn key on the alarm just continues to sound in or out of water. I have removed tan wire from alarm and it does stop. Is there a switch in the controls other than the buzzer it self? The motor appears to be running just fine and getting oil. I checked sending unit from oil tank, but it is a sealed unit. I cannot locate the switches as described in the replies above on the heads of the motor. Does some one know exactly where they are on this model outboard? Or do you have any other suggestions how to find problem.
