Hi,
Having a E35, 3cyl from 1999.

I have read ALOT about I should get rid of my OMS/VRO system. Oil mixing system. And sure I will.

But instead of removing the unit, I thougth of running with an empty oil tank and just do the premix myself.

It is doable or should I remove it totally?

Does it have the system right now ?If so why get rid of a system that's been running or working properly for 19 odd years?

I have an Evinrude as well.
Inquiring minds want to know....what is the problem with the OMS system?

Do they fail often?

What are the symptoms?

Yep....same here.
Have a 2001 60hp Johnson that has had the VRO disconnected because they are considered unreliable.
Just wondering if its just a case of replacing the part that is known to fail.....or is there no alternative parts/solutions out there?

I just got the used engine, so I actually dont know if the OMS/VRO system is working as it should.
The engine can start so I assume it works.

The OMS/VRO system is known to fail one day and when it does your motor will not get its oil.
But removing the system and do premix, the engine will always gets oil and you will not be stranded either.

My questions is, should I remove it totally or could I just leave the oil tank empty and do premix ?
