Cabela's jobs ???

Hi everyone,<br /><br />first of all please excuse my english (i'm french speaking). <br /><br />Cabela's announced today that they will open their first out-of-US store here in the Montreal area, in Canada. As they expects to employ several hundred locals from the surrounding area, people here from the fishing/hunting/camping and boating communities get excited, but want to know what can they expect as salary. Is this something that can be compared to the cheap labor at the minimum salary like the Wal-Mart "associates"?<br /><br />Thanks for your input.

I'm sure they will pay what the market bears saumon. WalMart does not determine what the pay level is in the US any more than does any other business. The pay scale is determined by what people will work for.<br /><br />Many people who work for Walmart are happy to have a steady job. If you have been in one lately, there is no doubt that they hire people who might have difficulty finding regular work at any pay.

I thought Wal-mart mended their fences with the French faction. SEE: Canadian Bacon; War of the Roses (not the Movie) I am not familiar with ?Cabela?

saumon, I've only been to their store in Utah, but they don't spare any expense to make their store a show place. I imagine there will be competition to get a job there. Good luck

The store here seems to have guys that know and care about the sportsman. Some of the guys are 50-ish. Don't know what they pay, but I would not compare their employees to Walmart's bodies that hang out at their stores.<br /><br />I have been in several Bass Pro Shops, and Cabella's store kicks their arse IMO. <br /><br />Hey Technowhoever... Cabela's...it's a fishing thing... you wouldn't understand.

They are putting a Cabela's pretty close to me in the next year or so......my dad is going to retire in July, and then he wants to get a job there.....I too am curious as to what a job there would be like.
