Re: cable connections
I ended up finding and adapter kit from a local shop. They were for an evinrude, but they work. Still issuses with the connection though. Like you said, the linkages are different. The shift and throttle are on different sides with the new motor. The throttle cable pushes to give the motor more gas, so to accomplish this, I need to have the cable go all the way around the block. The shift cable enters the outboard and goes directly to the shifter, but the rigid part of the cable is too long for it to be "correct." This set up will work, but I need to find some way to keep the cables mounted and in place. I cant seem to find any mounts on the new motor to keep the control cables in place inside the outboard. So when I push throttle forward instead of pushing the throttle forward on the outbard, the cable will back up. Same thing happens with the shift cable. I was thinking of using some hose clamps and then mounting the house clamps to bolts in the outboard. Not the most professional way to go, but how much money is it worth for a 1991 bayliner. Any better ideas for mounting the cables?
