I can not say anything about that modem, But I can say that I have had several D-link networking (wired and wireless) products and have always been dissatisfied with them. I went to Linksys and had had no troubles.

Thanx Dan, maybe the other one (one is a linksys) is going to be worth anther $15-- I really don't want something that is problems. As much I like to save money, its not saving if it don't work correctly and reliably!.

Re: Cable modem/s

I learned that leasson the hard way, D-link was always cheaper, and I bought it.
The second time I figured well it must have been just that model that was crappy.
The third time, well shame on me! I had to spend the extra anyway for Linksys and all my headaches went away.

Like I said It may not be every product they sell, thou I will never find out, but the ones I have bought were problems.

My experience with D-Link has been just the opposite. Had D-Link equip. for 3 years now and all has worked well.

Me too. I've had my Dlink wireless router for like 5 years now. It's been on 24/7 since then without a hickup. I also have an RCA cable modem attached to it that has performed just as well.

Linksys is overpriced CRAP. I've had several linksys items quit working for absolutely no reason and I've talked to lots of other people with the same experience.

Me too. Have a D-link card for my laptop and a D-link hub I've been using for ever and no problems.

Re: Cable modem/s

Another option is to buy a modem from your cable company. They always are compatible, usually have a longer warranty than one you buy from a store, and most cable companies will let you pay it off in three or so payments with the amount added to your bill every month.

Mine has a two year warranty from the cable company and after that is another one year from the manufacturer. Couldn't beat that anywhere else.

You could always just rent one from them of course but that, in my case, is an extra ten bucks a month. So buying really is the best option. Pays for itself in a matter of months.

Would that be the DCM-202 ?

yes it would.

As far as linksys goes thats what my router is, the network cards I have had from them were not good.

Cox cable said "just go buy one"

Thanx all

when I had cox high speed I had a motorola modem and had no problems with it. I am on SBC/ATT dsl now and think it is faster than the cable was.

I have the Motorola SB5101 Surfboard, so far it's been trouble free for over two years. I'm kinda partial to Motorola products anyway.

I also have a Linksys wireless router that I bought in December, It quit working about a month ago. A close friend also had the same Linksys suffered the same type problem as I did about the same time.

I have a Motorola SB5100 that I purchased from Wal Mart. Had it about a year now, no problems.
