I bought a 2008 Baja hull without the engine and outdrive. The engine and outdrive I was going to use were newly rebuild 1993 5.0 v8 engine with the rebuilt outdrive. The wiring is matching, I just had to add an extra wire for the gear lube control bottle. But when i tried to attach the shifter and throttle cables i found out that they both h
ave exactly the same connectors and one of them does not fit into an old shifter plate. So my question is, what should I do, change the cable with the old original cable from 1993 boat, change the connector if it is possible or try to find a corresponding shifter plate? Thank you.
p.s. we just got hit by a monsoon thunderstorm with some crazy rain right when I was going to make pictures. So I'll make them tomorrow and attach to the posting

I was referring to the shift plate at the engine end. And I want to apologize, working in the dark, I completely overlooked that I was using the wrong cable trying to plug it in the shifter plate. The correct cable was sitting under the engine and completely overlooked it. Instead I was looking at the throttle cable which should be hooked up to the throttle level of the carburetor. When I got home and looked at the diagram, right after I posted the question, I realized my mistake.
