I have a 200 suzuki 4 stroke 60hp. I constantly have a problem with calcium clogging the weep hole. I flush the motor after every use and still have this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: calcium buildup

Erichbd, you are boating in salt water, I take it. Are you certain that this is calcium not just sea salt (mostly NaCl)? There is some calcium in seawater, but I have no idea what would cause it to precipitate like that. And I don't understand why even sea salt would clog that way.

Are your zincs in good shape, and have enough of them? Any stray electrical being grounded through the motor? I hope that is not aluminum corrosion or even salt being deposited because of electrolysis. I am a fresh water guy, myself. Hopefully some of the "old salts" among us might have more ideas.

What is the quality of the water with which you are flushing?
