Of course it's not just for Don, lol. 1985 Formula 272 LS, new Vortec 350 crate motors, volvo penta intakes, Thunderbolt ignitions, etc. The port engine starts and runs low speed fine, however, at around 1500 and above the engine will falter, or die suddenly. The electric fuel pumps are NOT wired through the oil switch, (will be changed next week), so I believe they could be ruled out. Most parts are new or at least remanned. I saw another post about a stuck choke, could it be? Does this sound like an ignition problem, or possibly fuel related? Both motors share fuel, pickups, etc. Also, the starboard motor runs perfectly. And, I did notice they never hooked up the vaccum advance hose off the front of the carb, but the other engine is the same way, and it runs fine. Should I cap these? Thanks! Mike

My question is why THEY (they, being the mechanics that repowered it) aren't taking care of the problem?

sure it`s not the vent hose from the fuel pump .if the pump goes bad all that gas should go down the carb and not on to the engine.

Try running the failing motor on an auxillary tank (six gallon outboard tank), connect the aux tank to the electric fuel pump inlet and see if that makes a difference. Ideally each engine should have it's own pick-up tube, antisiphon valve, and water seperator
