Re: Calling Mark42
Hi! I used Roxio's Video Wave on a PC with a firewire input. Loads the video from my older Sony HI8 digital camcorder onto the PC, then break it up into individual component scenes. Then edit the scenes as you see fit. Mostly just drag and drop sort of stuff. Fairly easy, My software is now 4 years out-of-date, so I'm sure the latest version from Roxio - Videowave 8 - is even better. And the copy I made is better quality than what you can display on your TV, it just looks grainy on the internet because the free hosting compresses the crap out of it. What I uploaded was 10x better than what you see.
Its easy to take in the video through a fire wire cable if you have that port. But now most just connect through a USB connection (usb 2.0) with no special video edit hardware.
You can use Microsofts video editor that comes with Windows XP, but if you buy something new, it will most likely come with many more special effects for transitions, fades, text, overlay, sound, etc.
