Ol' buddy, ol' pal, I think I remember you saying something back in January about quiting them smokes if I did.

Well, as you know I quit Jan. 23 and have not looked back.

Soooooooo!!!! How about you? :)

Have you quit?

I hope so, and anyone else that reads this, I hope will quit also.

It's not easy, as I stopped cold turkey, but if I can do it after 34 years, then anyone can. ;)

Re: Calling OBJ

its on the top of my list too. but for me it is the hardest thing i have ever tried to do. i quit 3 years ago for 7 months, gained 47 pounds and started smoking again. so now not only am i still a smoker i am a fat smoker. It is about time i try again and this time not look for excuses to go back. congrats sbn. keep up the good work.

Re: Calling OBJ

muskyone, I know what you are talking about.

It is never to late to quit my friend, and you will feel better this time next week if you do.

Also hard to do when it's in the house with you.

With that said, it is a mind thing more than anything.
You have to want to quit. If not, nothing, or nobody can help you.

Now FSHKPR. The weight thing is tuff.

Just buy gum or sunflower seeds, and when you want a smoke, grab a stick of gum or a handful of seeds instead of the food.

Stopping smoking is not easy and don't let anyone tell you different.

Good luck to both of you and I'm pulling for you. :)

Re: Calling OBJ

I smoke, but plan to quit. I will be alot easier for me to quit than alot of you, because I have only been smoking since I was 18, and am 25 now. I dont know why I started, I guess cause it was there. I know that Im not in near the health I was in, when I was in highschool, and the sad part is, that it was not that long ago.

If SBN promises to come down here and take me fishing, I will quit today!

Re: Calling OBJ

I'm a reformed smoker. I quit cold turkey many
years ago. The biggest reason for not quiting in
MHO is the want factor. You must reach a point
were you want to quit more than you want to smoke.
Once you decide, quiting becomes much easier. And
the reasons for quiting are obvious. As each week
passes the craving for smoking decreases, yet it
never quit goes away. But after a few years you
will detest it. Secondly if you wish to end
a habit, the best way to do it is replace it with
another habit. Just pick one, gum will work,
peanuts, or what ever.
