The 73's were fairly close and I believe you said you decked the block. May have been someone else. If so you will just have to try them and see if they hit. As far as the heat range goes they are fine on a stock 1973 motor running 87 octane.

Good luck!

Was the reason for the surface gap plugs for clearance reasons?

After you posted that I went and looked.. piston sure comes close to the top! But they are not hitting the plugs.. Maybe I should use the surface gap plugS?

SparkRoost..... Use the Champion QL77JC4 plugs with great ease of mind, and set the gap to .040 . It is a alternate plug recommended by OMC for that engine, to be set at that gap setting.

The UL77V plugs work in many engines but unfortunately, regardless of the "77" rating, they have no real heat range and are quite prone to fouling.

Maybe it's cause it still on the stand :-\, I am gonna slap her on the boat this weekend.

I do appreciate all your help I have gotten with this motor. When I am done I will post pics with audio! EXCITMENT, ANTICIPATION!!
