Being new to boating and making repairs, I need a little help. While winterizing my 96 40 hp Johnson, I found the plastic roller broke that is attached to the carb linkage. I have a manual but it doesn't seem to be a good one. How do you get the old roller off? I see a screw that mounts the roller bracket to the linkage, but when I looked up the roller it does not come with the bracket. As long as I'm looking at the right part online. Also while installing a depth finder I found an hour meter, it has 220 hours on it, is this alot of time for a 96 motor.

Thanks, hope you guys can understand what I am trying to explain

are you speaking of this part? if so it just has a clip ring on it. common for them to break.

Some of the rollers are held on with a small white o-ring.

The roller you have pictured is in good shape but the other one is mounted on the carb. I did see a white ring there but have not tried to get it off until my new parts come in. I will try to get it off with a small screwdriver.

Thanks:)

Use something that will go under the rubber ring without damaging it, like a sail needle or a small awl.
