Lake Allatoona is my primary boating lake, but I have never camped on it before. This Summer we are doing a family camping outing on Allatoona so what I'm looking for are recommendations on campsites that allow you to beach your boat overnight. Thanks!

Thanks for the link, but nobody has left any useful information about the campgrounds on that site. Anyone with some information would be great.

You will prob just have to go figure it out in person, Find a nice secluded spot, and if you get kicked off, so be it.

You just have to scout these places.

Look for a spot not near any houses, where people could see you.

Re: Camping on Allatoona with boat

I have not camped on the lake in many years but I do still see alot of folks with boats across from the block house, Mckinny(sp?) Creek, Wilderness Creek and red top. The block house site might be fun because you'd get to see a free show at the boat ramp.

I see folks in other areas with boats but they are in unprotected waters and their boats get banged around on the shore. In those high traffic areas you could bring a line to shore and and anchor away from the shoreline to save your hull and outdrive.

I stayed at McKinney last summer and it was awesome. Very quiet. If you get a camping spot low 50's (I had #52) it is in a slough off the main channel and there is no other traffic and slow speeds next to camping areas.
