Has anybody heard of these boats? They are called campion boats i believe they are made in canada. Are they good hulls? And can they handle some rough waves without pounding?

Re: Campion boats

Campion was a make that was quite popular up here in Canada in the seventies and eighties as I recall.

My totally non-scientifically based opinion is that they were considered a good boat but perhaps that's because my dad hankered after the make pretty bad. I think one reason was the cabins and main salon had good headroom and big windows. He was also a fiend about ride quality so they may have had a nice deep v to them too.

I don't know what convolutions the company may have gone through between then and now or even if they still exist. Got any pics?

-edit-

It seems they do still exist and are rather modest chaps to boot. :->

Re: Campion boats

I'll be at their plant in the morning. They make very good boats, from basic Fishing CC's, to high end go fast types, they're alive and well in Kelowna BC Canada.

Re: Campion boats

I have four Campions and I swear by the hulls. I have 2-1988 210 Discovery cuddy models 1 resto-in-progress/Merc3.7 and Penta 4.3 respectively, 1-1988 186 Allante ski boat/150 Merc XR2, and a 1990 190 Fishing Machine (Explorer) center console/110 Johnny. They are all great boats. The current Discovery I use I have had for 10 years and I love the boat, spacious deck and cuddy and a great hull design. The Mercruiser 3.7 litre 170hp pushes it at about 30mph at 3800 rpm and uses about 4-5 gph. Handles swell and chop with relative ease. I have been off the west coast in 10' seas with 2-3' chop and not been nervous while my friends were chumming for me. The other boats are just as reliable. The boat in my Avatar is the Discovery. Campion offers a great current lineup of models. If I were to win a lottery or a lawsuit (pending) I would seriously consider Campion again. I have had Grew, K&C, Double Eagle, Telstar, Spectrum, Starcraft and various other no-name garage sale boats and I like the Campions.....obviously.
They are made in British Columbia to boot.

Re: Campion boats

Campions are very good boats and very prominent here on the West Coast. They have been around since the '70's and I believe their hull technology is now at the top of the spectrum.

I am a Belgion owner of a Campion "chase" built in 2005.t I have an big problem with osmosis (although the boat has been garded very well and was stored in a dry place during the winter period.) Afther contacting Campion I was told there is NO GUARANTEE ON THE HULL !!!!!! I paid almost ? 30 000 for the boat !!! a lot for nothing as it is worthless after 5 year !
They said I had to put a "marine barrier coating on the ship"
You can not find that in their brochures and the Belgian dealer told me nothing about that fact.
My advice : You'd better forget Campion. It's worhtless !

I had the misfortune to buy a 1981 Campion Skeena 21.5 foot. what a POS. first the OMC 800 leg blew, then when investigating a soft spot in the floor I
discovered the stringers were completely rotten, and on and on  To make a long story short there was nothing I didnt have to fix, a pooly designed boat with shoddy chopper gun assembly, and it pounded somthing terrible. The Bayliner I currently own is 3 times the boat
