Not my engine just see a few of these on boats sitting at the dock. One in question is on a pontoon and when my friend comes in he raises the drive out of the water. He does this to keep the crud from building up on the drive. He pulls the boat out of the water before a hard freeze. I know outboards drain when pulled out of the water and they are hanging in the vertical direction. Question: Is there enough water left in the drive if the boat stays in the water and the drive is just trimmed up to cause a problem?

Yup,if its trimmed up,the lower case could fill with rainwater, snow. A good freeze can crack the case. Dosent happen often I think but when it does,it gets costly. Pull it out, trim it down!
