How difficult is it for a newbie to change out the impeller in an Alpha One drive (1996)? Are a lot of special tools and expertise required?

You are asking a hard question. No 'special' tools are required, but I would not suggest doing it without someone with you who has done before. If you have 'savy' and can follow the instructions, get a FACTORY MANUAL.(after market manuals don't cut the mustard). Then you might do it yourself.Pay extra attention to all references to shift and shift linkges. That is where the problems occur.

DHP

Hey EC,

I've been working on lower units for many years and everything I learned was by doing it. Have a little confidence in yourself and dive right in. If you make a few mistakes do it over. That's how you learn.
