Can any one find out yr with only the serial #?

Have a Johnson 6hp. I can only find the serial#,but no model#.<br />Any help is greatly appreciated.<br />S# J2785597

Serial numbers don't do us much good Nick. Did you look for the large core plug on the engine block? The M# is usually there. Maybe post a pic of the engine? Sometimes we can get lucky with a pic.

Thats the only # I can find after searching the motor over. Let me ask this: Ive seen pics of other Johnsons that look about the same. I need the lower unit seals due to water mixing with the oil. Is their a gasket set that will fit most models from early -- mid 70's?
