Can anyone identify this outboard???

I just acquired this outboard and cannot see any ID of what make, model or year. The gas tank says Craftsman, but it looks like if came off a lawnmower. I cleaned the carb out, and it fired right up and runs like a champ. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps a Neptune?

i don't know, but you best get a cover on the carb throat, or water will splash into it. leaving you stranded.

At the speeds this motor pushes my boat(.5mph), water splashing is not a issue.

I'm pretty sure that is a HMC 6500 "Cruise 'n' Carry". I think it is around 1.2 HP and is said to weigh about 12 lbs. A friend of mine has on just like it. There is suposed to be a plastic decorative cover over the engine that also held the fuel tank. If I am not mistaken these run on 25:1 fuel mix. I saw some information on these on the net, but don't recall exactly where. I'm sure a google search will turn up something. It makes a decent trolling motor, but it sure is loud. Just like a weed-eater wide open. BTW, his doesn't have the cover over the air cleaner either. I'm not sure if there ever was a choke on that engine, but if there was it would have been in the ai silencer assembly that is now gone. Is it hard to start when cold. my friends is a little cold natured.
