Wondering if someone could ball park the year just by looking at the picture?

Re: Can anyone identify?

Thanks a lot! About to buy the boat and was wondering what I was getting into. It's been rebuilt recently and he's put some hours on it and says everything runs fine.

Not to say that isn't true, but if I had a dime for every time I've heard that line...

There should be an ID plate on it some where. Find it and post it for an absolute ID for the engine...

I've found that what a lot of people consider "rebuilt", I would consider a mild tune-up. Unless the block was split, cylinders bored, new pistons installed, etc., it hasn't been "rebuilt".

He has receipts so I'll take a look to make sure what he listed is true.

"Engine completely redone last year -- new pistons, rings, seals, water pump etc.
• Lower unit redone this year with new bearings, gear oil, etc.
• The powerhead is essentially in new condition and it runs great."

Sounds like that was indeed the case, making it a low hours, recently rebuilt motor. With proper care, it should last you awhile...

Picked her up and she's a 77. Good call on that one. I'll take care of her, hopefuly she will take care of me.
