can anyone verify this year by serial #

Trying to help a neighbor. He just bought a used (1998?) mercury 200hp
outboard. He needs a new impeller. While trying to look up the impeller
on line the serial # doesn't seem to match up. His motor says 200efi xl but
on one website his serial # (0G654635) shows to be a 200dfi? Does this
make a difference? And is the year model correct?

That serial number comes up as a 1997 0r 98 2.5L V200 EFI but I'll admit that merc numbers get a bit fuzzy once you get past 1996, data bases are not reliable.

The impeller part number is 47-899841

The water pump repair kit part number is 46-96148A5. iboats sell the Sierra brand equivalent, part number 18-3217 (no housing or base)

Is it me or has there been quite a few of these requests the past few days?

Mods....I have a nice PDF file containing serial numbers, hp, years for Merc...great reference.
I know many people would love to see this info.
Is it possible to send it to you or upload it and turn into a sticky?
