how old is it?

looks like an entire roll, and you must buy the entire roll

looks like its stitched with CSM, so no, you cant use epoxy

Actually buying from the guy that has the roll, and has way more than he needs. Not sure on the age, he just did his own boat with it... So are you saying this stuff has a shelf life?

I have 3 gallons of epoxy right now, suppose I could just use it for the bottom of the sole, and buy polyester resin for everything else... Will I get 40 years out of it if I do the job right regardless if I use polyester or epoxy?

I've used CSM and 1708 with epoxy resin and there is no issue with either.

Not trying to be smart here... It would be my first restoration. From the reading I've done mat provides thickness and bond and cloth provides strength... Actually not sure if they would be the same waterproof wise. but 27.3 oz per square mat (at $3.00 'tax free' yard) is still less than let's say.. 7 oz of cloth(at $6.00 a yard)? I have a 17.5 foot tri-hull that would maybe take 35 yards of fiberglass...

IMHO the ad is misleading 27.3 oz per sq yard. 1.5oz CSM is rated per Sq. Ft. You can do the math. It does state that it IS a fabric with CSM stitched to it but Not sure of the weight of the fabric used. CSM CAN be used with epoxy but adds very little benefit to the mix. It's manufactured for the Polyester resin industry and acts as a binder for the resin. Epoxy does not require nor need a binder. All you need for an epoxy application is Fabric. Again, IMHO this is not the product you want or need.
