1958 Johnson Super Seahorse 35hp RDSL-20

I'm in the process of adding floors to my 16 foot 1971 Richline V bottom and I acquired a late model console out of a GIII. The console came with a Faria tachometer, and I'm hoping there is a way to connect it to my old motor. There are no wires in the harness for that purpose but it would be simple to get wires into the motor. Any ideas?
Thanks
Tom

The only tachs easily rigged to your old magneto fired motor is an inductive tach, such as the one Mike mentioned. These wrap an inductive wire around one of the plug wires as a sensor. Typical modern marine tachs won't work on the old outboards with magneto ignitions...
- Scott
