At the risk of sounding like a TOTAL idiot... I did some research and am still not totally sure. I have a 65' merc 900 that I want power tilt/trim for. How do I add this on? From what I have seen it appears that it just replaces part of the current transom bracket. I saw a few on ebay but am unsure if they will fit or not.

Sorry for the ultra noob question..

Ayuh,... The old 70s vintage T&T is nothing more than hyd. rams replacing the existing shocks....
Find the Right system,+ it's a simple Swap....

I added PTT to my 1970 Merc 800 last summer. Relatively easy install. You will have to shop around for a "good" used unit as they are no longer available new.

Not sure what years are compatible. I know the TYPE 1 system (two external rams with pump and reservoir in the boat) was used into the early 80's, but not sure when they were introduced.

Be sure ALL the hardware is included with the unit. If the hydraulic lines are original you may have to replace them. They can be purchased new but are not cheap.

This is a link to the installation instructions - it may help you understand what you will need to do. Keep in mind that these are the instructions from the kit (which are no longer available) but it details the process and shows you the parts.

Good luck

Great, thanks a lot guys. I appreciate your responses. Very helpful. I guess Ill just keep an eye out for a complete setup and grab it if the opportunity presents itself.
