I picked up my used 2002 mercury 75 hp today..It needs a couple parts before it goes on the boat..

The trim motor (cover) is soo rusty that i could put my finger threw it soon..Can i just buy the cover? Or do I have to buy the whole motor?

The other problem is see is the starter nut is very worn down from starting..Does that just pop off to replace? Or will i need to replace the whole starter?

Needs serial#and model.
They make a ton of different T/T motors.
This site sells parts.
Then there is always e-bay.The aftermarket stuff is mostly Chinese made not as good as factory.
It might rust up as bad as the old one.
One tip, sand it lightly and repaint at least 2 times.

Re: Can i buy these parts?

Sorry guys, The s/n is 0T508685, Its a 2002 mercury 2stroke 75hp..

I ordered a Tilt trim motor off ebay..Kinda sucks because the motor isnt bad just had some MAJOR rust on the cover!! I could Mercury and they dont sell the cover!!

I am in contact with Arco for the drive gear for teh starter..I have to give them some numbers off the starter..

I dont think sanding this motor will do anything..Going to see if i can use the cap off the new motor i bought..Id rather keep the factory motor on since im sure its much better quality..

Re: Can i buy these parts?

Well it seems that you have everything in hand.

Your s/n comes up as a model:

1075412ZD MERCURY 2002 75

Parts Listing:

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/3374.cfm

Service Manual P/N: 90-830234R04

http://1manual.com/Mercury manuals/Service Manual PDFs/TwoStroke/830234r3/cover.pdf

You must have Adobe Acrobat reader installed to use this manual. If you scroll down to the lower part of the opening page, you will see the various engine components in red. Click on the one you want and when the first page opens, click on the "Save As" icon at the top LH corner of the page and you can save it to your computer.
