OK, So I admit, maybe this is better for the Stupid Human Tricks Section :)

I need to take my 1984 Honda Big Red trike (200ES) to Vermont, 4 hours away. I do not have a trailer. I do not want to rent one. I have a Hitch Carrier rated for 400 pounds. The Trike is 385 pounds. I normally would never consider this but I see people carrying motor cross and street bikes on hitch carriers all the time. This is not the single track type hitch carrier, this is the 4 foot by 2 foot "basket" type. I would take route 22, not a highway. I would securely strap it down. Am I crazy? Will the hitch carrier just snap?

Thanks...

My buddy has one of those and hauls a lot of heavy stuff on it. He's never had a problem but I personally wouldn't put something with that much value on it when it's so close to the rated limit. You can rent a trailer from u-haul cheap.

Get a small trailer or convert an old boat trailer with a platform......... those hitch carriers are rated for weight but I have seen a few fail too. I think as mentioned above you are going to cube out with size BTW what kind of vehicle is the 2" receive on? Yeah let me know when you are on 22 and I'll drive over for a picture!

OR rent a uhaul....

keep an eye on Craigslist in the garden section for a small trailer or the boating section for a small boat trailer to convert I see them al the time for sale.

Here is an easy conversion.......http://burlington.craigslist.org/mcy/3249619280.html

All you can do is try it!!!! and ask yourself does the risk outway the reward and if not get with it!!!!
Or if its that close just ride it there!!
a ticket is probably cheaper than a trailer
