Can I change gimbal bearign with just outdrive removed or need to remove bell housing

Is there a reason to pull bell housing to replace gimbal bearing or can it all be done with it in place and just the outdrive pulled?

In place with the drive removed? You will need an internal slide hammer bearing puller. As well as an installation too. I made mine, but I'm a machinist.

No reason to pull anything other than the outdrive. Bearing pull and installation tool is highly advisable. Grab yourself a manual for the outdrive off of the internet.

You can go rent a slide hammer from autozone and pull it out right through the bellows. No need to remove anything besides the drive.

This is the sort of puller you're going to need... Don't get a 'girlie' one...
