Can I remove the inner wall on the side of my boat

I am remodeling my 21ft center console beachcraft and would like to remove the inner wall leaving about 6inches from the top down. Will this affect the boat structurally? I plan on building some support structures to support the cap. Also, even though there were no frames on the outside of the stringers I plan on adding some so I can attach the new floor to it. Will this work?

John on shipshape tv rebuilt a boat about that size removing the inner liner and leaving about 6 inches from the top down, it's mentioned on you tube under fiberglass repairs or transom repair I beleive.
