Re: can i remove the vacum saftey
Vacuume Switch<br />Check operation of vacuume switch. Switch should remain open when ignition key is turned to the on position. Switch sould close after key is turned to start position and starter begins to crank engine. To test switch, disconnect leads at the connector. Connect a test light between the leads. The light should indecate only when engine is cranked with the starter. If switch fails to close press in the center of the diaphram, the light should indecate. If the switch is malfuntioning, pull off rubber diaphram and remove two screws, switch and gasket from by-pass cover. disassemble switch and wash components in solvent and dry.Inspect valve and seat for anycondition that would prevent proper seating. Clean contacts. Check fit of diaphram to switch housing leakage here would preventcontacts from closing. Disk valve should close under presure and open under suction. Because you have a hydro/elect shift your L/U is always in forward gear unless it get an electric signal to be some where else (neutral or reverse). When you turn your key off there would be no signal or nutral, The engine would still be turning, with no signal the boat would still be moving. This switch keeps the signal to neutral until the motor stops turning. Does this make sence?
