I have removed the oil injection form this motor and started mixing the fuel. I was wondering if you could remove number 17 or 18-2 which is the low oil warning unit. Is this the unit that sends the signal to the CDI to kick the rev limiter.

Don't know if it's applicable, but I had an '85 DT140. It had two sensors - low oil level in the tank, and low flow at a down stream filter. You may be able to unplug either/both/ or whatever you have at the sensor end.

I know you can unplug the flow sensor, and you likely can do it for the level sensor, also. Looks as if both items you mention do much more than just sense low oil, so I wouldn't recommend just removing 'em out of hand ...

It would be helpful if you first identified your motor by name. All of the discontinued parts tell me it is a Suzuki. If you had a Yamaha those parts would still be available. Yamaha has great parts support even for the old motors.

Sorry i was unaware DT was not specific to suzuki but I am not wanting to replace the part I am wanting to remove it. I just was asking if this part effects anything other than the oil injections.

Re: Can I remove this Part (pics)

Justintime I just ran the thing with the Low Oil reset disconnected and it just ran from the go missing cylinders intermintly. If you hook the light up to the clynders you can see it just jump from top to bottom missing a spark on each in order just like the rev limiter. So I am know guessing it is the CDI. Wish there was a bench test for the CDI. Another question could it just be the reset buttom and can I just jump the two brown and white wires to eliminate that.

Justintime I dont think I explained the complete problem in the post. When you first take off it will jump up and run like it should but after about 30 secs it will cut out like the rev limiter is kicking in. You can shut it off and turn it right back on and it will do the same thing as many times as you want to do it. The oil reset does noting to help. Carb rebuild, new fuel pump, new plugs and gaped, bulb is good and hard, no oil flow sensor, no water flow sensor, and fuel filter cleaned and bypassed. Also elminated the the fitting the the fuel line plugs into the motor. If the motor runs at ideal or at WOT it will run the same amount of time before the rev limiter kicks in. The only thing I have not messed with is the stator coils or anything under the flywheel. Could they be causeing the problem.

Re: Can I remove this Part (pics)

you will need to keep it plugging in
what it does it senses low oil level and then sets you into RPM reduction mode

so the CDI needs the oil input
most guys leave the tank on there and just zip tie the sensor to read full

So if you just unhook the oil level sensor from it it does not bypass it.

nope it will make you go into reduction mode, because it is not getting a signal

you might try unhooking the wires that go into the cdi box
