Can I use a jack plate for short shaft motor on tall transom

The search for a 25 HP long shaft motor has not been very fruitful, so I wanted to inquire about a secondary possibility. I have read where folks have used a jack plate to raise up long shaft motors to put them on short shaft transoms, but I can't find anything about using a jack plate on a short shaft motor with a tall transom. What do y'all think of this idea?

I will continue to seek a long shaft motor in good shape.

It could work if you have the room, motor would just be much closer to the water, if a tiller model, that could be an issue depending on shape of the transom.

Found a running 25 long today in my area. 1996 or 97 Johnson 2 stroke. $350. I’ll take it.

Not practical to use a jackplate that way.

Using a jackplate to adapt a short shaft motor to a LS transom, means is it likely that the motor cannot tilt or trim much. If the motor is an aux, it may drag in the water.
If pull start, it may be hard to get to the cord.

" Can" it be done ? Mabey, but there are so many issues that could arise it would not be worth the trouble in my opinion. I believe in doing the job the right way, rather than constantly fixing the issues....
