Hi folks,
Great site with lot's of info here!!

I'm tuning a couple Johnson 55hp commercial outboard's (J55WRLSSC) and noticed the recommended plugs (QL16V) are the surface-gap type. After a bit of research it sounds like these plugs work best under constant WOT conditions. These engines will spend much of thier service under idle conditions. Is there a traditional gap-style plug that would be an appropriate replacement? If so, can I assume a good place to start the gap is .030 ? I'm also concerned about the ground electrode bumping the piston, but I guess I could do some simple measurements at TDC.

Thank you!
-Jack
