Can/ should hybrid batteries be used for trolling?

I've searched and read many of the forums regarding marine batteries, however none that I have found have specifically answered my question. Can/ should a hybrid starting/ deep cycle battery be used for a trolling motor? Is there a large benefit to using a deep cycle vs. a hybrid for a trolling motor?

Unless a deep cycle is much better than a hybrid for this purpose, I will opt for a hybrid due to it's multi-use capability. Note, I already have a dedicated starting battery.

I never used a dedicated deep cycle battery for the troller. I always used a dual purpose (I don't think "hybrid" is correct) Everstart Marine Maxx for both and never had a failure.

The only difference is that the true deep discharge battery will last longer and be more tolerant of deeper discharges. Never discharge below 12.0V.

I have a friend who works on electronics and he told me not to ever mix batteries if you have a 24 volt system. For instance, don't use a deep cell or dual-purpose and a gell battery together.
