1978 55hp Johnson on a 1992 Alberta limited addition open bow 16 foot tri-hall we bought the boat and had lack of power problems..brought it in and thay re-built the carbs did come electrical work and found it was only firing on one slender. thay said thay fixed that and had the boat in the water again and have more power but don't no if im still getting full throttle or not, because i don't know how fast it should go if running rite. the boat is heavy and does any body now how fast my boat should should go or what the original engine is on my boat...please help us

The full throttle operating range of that engine is 5000/6000 rpm, not to exceed 6000 rpm.

If the engine is running properly, at full throttle, the ideal rpm would be about 5700/5800 rpm.

Anything below that rpm would indicate that the propeller is wrong (too much pitch) or something is wrong with the engine.
