After all of the trouble you have had with the clicking noise ( I looked up your previous posts) it seems to me like you have a bad starter. Does it even sound like the starter is running? If the solenoid on the starter has gone bad then the motor may run but it just does not throw out the gear to engage the flywheel. Only real way to tell is to remove the starter, which I know you have asked for advice on. If you are having trouble finding a reputable marine dealer why don't you try an auto mechanic to remove the starter and get it tested. Whatever you do though DO NOT get it replaced with an equivalent car starter. That would be dangerous, as they are not spark isolated. The procedure however for removing/replacing is exactly the same as on a car engine. I just did a friends bayliner on Tuesday which had the exact same symptoms. I think was a couple of years newer than yours and it was not difficult to replace except for the tight squeeze to get to it.
Good luck!

I'm with B-Man on this one. Are you really in over your head or just fruatrated at the situation. If your frustrated find some one ta give you a hand. But if your really over your head call in the pros. Good luck either way.

Get a manual. I just replaced mine and it only took about an hour. A mechanic will take weeks to even look at it. Get some advil for your sore back (it will be when you're done doing acrobatics in there).

Start off by removing the terminals from the battery so you don't short anything. Get a good look at the area you are going to be working in. On my friends boat I was able to remove four screws and take out a small sectioned off area in front of the battery so I could climb in and sit down with my legs crossed. I am 5' 11 and 185lbs and I won't say it was comfortable but roomy enough to save lying in their head first. If you have a shop light put it in the bilge area to give you some light.
There are three bolts holding the starter to the engine. Two long ones go up through the starter and into the block from the bottom and one short one goes into the starter at the back/top. The short one I just mentioned points from the back of the boat to the front and pulls the starter into the opening and the other two pull it up against the block. Get a 1/2" and a 9/16" wrench and loosen all of the bolts. Can't remember which it was but it was one of those two sizes. You should almost be able to see the short one. You may be able to see the head of one of the ones under the starter but the other one under the starter you will have to either feel for or use a mirror.
Once you get all three out you can pull it to one side and disconnect the wires from the terminals (don't forget to label them if you have a bad memory or do not know exactly what/why each wire is there). That should be all there is to it.
Post back if you are still unsure, if you want I can give you a call, I will be at work most of the evening anyway.
I'll check back in a while.

If you have a digital camera take a pic or two of the wires and then you can concentrate on removing the bolts and not worry where the wires go. If it makes it easier, tape the wires together where there is more then one to a terminal. You can do it.......You can buy a full tank of gas for the money you save in labor
