Can the angle of my Wiper Motors be adjusted?

Hi Chaps!

After owning the boat a couple of years now ive now decided to rectify the issue of the wiper blades over shooting the windows (not that ive ever needed to use them yet)

It seems the blades/arms are too long for the windows so i either replace these for shorter ones or reduce the sweep angle of the motors, i would need to adjust the angle by at least half giving a sweep angle of only 45-50 degrees.

Can this be done??? If not its ?50 on new stainless arms and blades, i need a total length of approx 13" only!

Thanks in advance :)

How is the opposite end of the arc? It may be as simple as pulling the entire arm assembly and shifting one spline tooth. For that to work you have to have enough angle available in the other direction.

Thanks for your reply, the motor spindle diameter is plain, it has no spline teeth. If i were to centralize the wiper so that the travel was equal in both directions it over shoots both ways!

I guess unless i can reduce the sweep angle the only other option is shorter arms and blades!

To change the total angle of sweep... you have to get into the link arm between the wiper and gearbox. There should be a rod connecting the two (at some point... might be inside the gearbox)

If this is accessible, then you can increase distance between where that rod connects to the wiper arm assembly and its pivot point. That reduces total sweep angle.
Similarly making the connection on the motor end of the rod closer to center will reduce the wiper sweep.

But... some are easier to do this than others. It was really easy on a 1950's Plymouth. You can't get at what you need to access in most modern automotive wiper systems.

so... if its an old style, with just a couple of pictures I can tell you how.

Tried the easiest first... unfortunate that the simple (free) answer didn't work.
