Can you tell me what this is? Roberts Rigger??

Hello Just bought yet another boat and It has all kinds of cool rod holders that snap into the side, Its a Thunder Craft Tri Hull .. My question in There is a Reel looking thing that snaps into one of the reel holder holes. Im just curious what it is. Has a black ball and 2 clips on it that hang on a metal line. Any clue?

Hmm Never hear of it before but im also new to owning boats. Any clue how its used? is it for trolling or would you have to be anchored to use it? Thanks for your input by the way

Basically they are for deep trolling (while moving) they have a heavy weight and your fishing line attaches to a clip

if you have tried to troll with any speed you will have notice what you are trolling with wants to bounce on the top of the water the downrigger prevents this by putting you line deeper in the water
