Hi all, hope this is the proper place to post this, however I need some advice regarding where I can store my canoe this winter. All summer, it has been, bottom side up, on wooden supports, high off the ground right on the shore of a lake in Vermont. Can I leave it down there all winter? As you can imagine, it gets real cold there and the canoe will be covered with snow for most of the winter (the lake is 30 minutes north of Manchester, VT). If I bring it up to the house, all I can do is put it under the deck. Should I throw a tarp over it? Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!!!

3 years ago the weight of the snow buckled my canoe that I had stored outside similar to the way yours is now. I would put it under the deck.

I have an aluminum canoe that has been stored outside on pipe supports for nearly 35 years.
Except for the tree that crushed it during tropical storm Agnes it's still in good shape. We beat out the damage.
I would opt for under the deck if possible though. Just leave it upside down so water doesn't accumulate inside & block it off the ground if possible.

You could strap it up and hang it from the bottom of the deck.

Then again, if it is a $4000 handmade canoe, I would put it in my livingroom. :)

So what kind of canoe is it? Aluminum, fiberglass, cedar, or plastic(coleman)?

Hi All, this is an old Sears Fiberglass canoe. I am planning on taking all of your advise and placing it under the deck, wrapped in a tarp.
