I am having trouble locating a diaphram, kit, or entire fuel pump for my 1971 50 HP Johnson. No one seems to even list fuel pumps or kits for a '71 50 HP. Please direct me in the right direction.

Pump is BRP P/N 438559. Should be available through any JohnnyRude dealer.

I think that pump is standard for many years and sizes.

they are a little tricky to rebuild. the can be assembled in many different configurations.

there are little fragile springs in some pumps that fly off.

the kit contains a useful diagram. it will show you how to re-build the pump

it is much cheaper to buy a new pump than to pay a mechanic to work on it.

the difference between some of these pumps is the way they are assembled.

the same parts put together differently result in various fuel inlet and outlet position changes.

the pumps generally do not work well sideways or upside down. be sure to get the right one.
