I live in Lacey Township, NJ, and I'm looking for someone to repair my outboard at a responsible rate. Mechanics in my area want a fortune or don't want to work on an motor as old as I have. I am not mechanically inclined and made the mistake of taking a chance on this small fishing boat and engine. The boat is fine. I had a gentlemen who started to fix it, I purchase several new parts but he still can't get it going. Just purchased a fuel pump assembly. But now he is busy with new job. If anyone can help or make a recommendation please, please help!!! :(

Many wrenches wont work on an old engine because they don't want to get stuck with it.

1. This is the season they have to make their bux. They are loaded with late model engines they have parts for.

2. They have to charge $45 to $85 an hour to stay in business.

3. Your repair bill has a good chance of being more than the engine is worth, and many customers simply abandon them and leave the poor wrench stuck with a lump of metal.

Fact of life, Ron. Your best bet is to buy a repair manual and some tools, get great advice here and do it yourself.

Good luck. :)
