cant find the model/serial numbers

I have a gamefisher 15hp and I cannot find the model and serial numbers.The numbers I did find were on a tin tag mounted to the block but those numbers do not seem to match anything the tag did say 383A Techumsa 9102.If someone would be kind enough to tell where where the numbers should be located that would be greatley appreciated.

thats a Tecumseh BV1500 383a engine, there will be a black metal label attached someplace....look under the back side of the pan or between the clamps....may have been removed but you can still ID parts no problem...

the gamefisher model number will read like 217-xxxxx

Cool I found it! It was on the bottom of the pan prop side.Would of been easy to find I guess if it was on a boat with it tilted up.Model number is 217-586331 and s/n is 98 350656. Im assuming the 98 indactes the year if that is true that motor looks like heck.The last owner told me it was used as a kicker on a boot in salt water. There's tons of pitting on the outter case.OK now to crack this baby open and get it running.

I have the exact same model Gamefisher, I,m restoring the electonics and pull start and water pump, "217-586331" small world eh? I need a new hood....


www.certifiedpartscorp.com, they told me there now charging $!0 minimum on shipping so get your list started...;)

Thank you for link to find year on motor, 79 seems a more reasonable year with the amount of wear its shown.I seem to come across these motor fairly often at all the swapmeet/garage sales I visit Ill keep an eye out for a hood.
