I have a merc 140 80-81 s/n 5625741 with 2 tilt cylinders.I cannot for the life of me to get to tilt up.I made sure it was in forward gear and the the lock cam wasnt hooked onto the tilt pin,it acts like it is locked down but cant seem to see anything holding it down. The engine has been sitting a while and im wondering if the cylinders are froze up on the side pins. I tried to remove the cylinders but they wont budge do you have to use a pickle fork to remove them?(similar to tie-rod ends on a car)
Is there something simple Im missing that is stopping the engine from tilting up?
Is there an easy way to remove the tilt cylinders?
