Hey Forum. I'm new here.
I have a problem. My 1964 Evinrude Sportwin 9.5 outboard is overheating. I was advised (kindof new at this) to remove the lower end and inspect the water pump and impeller. But I can't seem to get it off. The motor was mostly used on lakes. I got the 4 bolts off that hold it on, then I was able to separate the sections, then I removed the screw holding these two brass parts together. In all the videos, after this point, the unit comes off. But no, mine isnt. It is stuck fast in there. I have tried putting force, I have tried prying the brass parts apart, but they won't separate. I have some photos of what I see when I look up into that area. I also saw something rusted and twisted up in the cavity as I looked up towards the top of the engine. Can anybody diagnose this? Or better yet, is there anyone on this forum in the Metro Detroit area that can come and look at this?
