cant pull starter string out

hello a bought a 7.5 hp 2 stroke it worked well and sounded good when the man sold it to me but now i cant even pull the starter string out it seems to be stuck in gear but the gear selecter moves into reverse but not neutral but when in forward it makes a clicking noise can anyone help

pull the sparkplugs, is it blown up, you may have to pull the gearcase and see if the shift rod or drive shaft/prop shaft is seized. the clicking noise is a ratcheting style gearcase, dont let it fool ya like all is ok.. you should have a shift interlock on the throttle possibly, you may need to get us the engine numbers to futher help out

my engine no is 9011503 today i took the gearcase off today it seems to be ok and i also took the pull string case off too but the fly wheel wont move apparrently theres\a lock nut underneath but i cant see it and i cant even get the flywheel off is there away of doing this
