can't remove antisyphon valve, any tips?

I suspect I have fuel starvation, as idle is poor and engine often dies when idling at the end of boat trips, but not at the beginning or on the muffs. So, I purchased a new valve, but can't get the old one off. I tried penetrating oil on the treads multiple times, but the pipe sealer is probably impenetrable. The valve is aluminum and soft and starting to round already after a few tries.

Any secrets in removing those?

Thanks!

BTW, I hope this is the correct sub-forum.

Vice grips with good teeth clamped on hard. Should grip & dig into the metal.

Channel lock pliers with some good leverage may also work, but they may slip if you don't keep pressure on them.

Thanks for the reply. I tried channel lock pliers and no go. Almost rounded the whole thing. I will buy vice grips and try again next weekend.

I'm afraid I'll have to remove the whole fuel pickup.

Ayuh,.... It should screw right outa the tank....

The diptube is stickin' out the other end, so it's as long as the tank is deep...
