can't shut off !

replaced my 2000 50hp 2 stroke merc with factory recond 2002 60hp 4 stroke -tech said old control box would be proper. Everything works fine except if I run the motor at high speed for about 20-30 min-can't shut off-must pull fuel line. After it quits put hose on start up shuts off just fine unless i run it again for extended period of time. Bad ground?

Wild guess here.<br />I had a similar problem once when I got our boat. It was rigged up with a push button 'kill switch' that would ground out the powerpack. Turns out that the cable from the key switch back to the motor was a two piece unit and it had a problem at the connector half way towards the engine. Replaced the cable with a one piece and it solved the problem.
