canvas covered canoe

I just picked up a canoe, one of the kinds with thin wood strips over ribs and then canvas coated. Has anyone restored one of these, can I use fibreglass to cover the strips instead of canvas. If I want to use canvas how do I do that. I worked on a cloth covered aircraft once, would it be the same?<br />Thanks for any info<br />Dave

What Make is it ???<br />Do you want to "Restore" it, or just make it usable ???<br />It would be worth alot more Restored....

Check out CedarIslandCanoes.com<br /><br />Tom has been building and restoring for years. I used to teach with Tom and his work is like art.<br />Bondo is right, a properly restored canoe is worth good $$$$$.<br /><br />He may put you on to some sites and "How to's"
