I'm blowing switch boxes and can't figure out why. What kind of abuses other than a bad ground to the switch box can cause switch box failures.

Thanks,

Nathan Hall

Bad connections.

Open circuit (plug wire pulled off durring operation.

Internal pack PCB corrosion due to moisture getting into the pack thru a crack or someplace.

Open or intermittant coil windings.

that's abt all i can think of (been up all night, double shifts draw vacumm).

Just to add to 12Footer's comments...

Overcharging the battery will blow the packs.

When an engine starts blowing power packs repeatedly, especially on the same cylinders, replace the ignition coils on those cylinders. The inductive kickback from a bad coil can destroy the packs, even if the coils check good with all known tests. A stator that test good can also be sending spike voltages to the packs causing them to fail repeatedly.
