Hello, I am brand new to boating having recently moved to Florida. I bought a used Cape Horn 16 the other day. I was wondering if anyone would have an owners manual they would share with me? I called the Cape Horn people and they said they would mail me one but all I got was a brochure. Maybe thats all they ever came with but maybe they just didn't have an owners manual since its been several years since they quit producing these particular boats. I could copy someones if they would lend me theirs. I would even be willing to pay if necessary. I'll appreciate all help.

Welcome to iboats.

You may never see a real owner's manual....... they normally only have USCG safety info inside them. The real book you need is a manual that cover's your motor. 99% of everything else is included in these forums but the original equipment motors manual is the MOST important.

Please take an approved boating safety course ;)

Well, I've tryed to find that as well but with no luck so far. The motor is supposed to be a 96 Johnson 90hp. Model # J90TSLEUA. That's whats on the plate affixed to the motor but when I look it up all I can find with that number is a 97 Johnson 90hp and I can't seem to find an owners manual for it. Any help here would be greatly appreciated as well. The Johnson website is of no help.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your boat? I'm about to pull the trigger on a 16ft cape horn this weekend, but this would be my first boat purchase so I want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off or anything. It seems pretty plain, but it's going to be a fishing boat so I'm not too concerned with it looking fancy as long as it gets the job done. It's a 2000 model with a 90hp Johnson. If I do buy it I'll be in the same situation as you looking for info on a service type manual, lol.

I was concerned the 90 HP would not be enough but was definitely wrong! The boat and motor were more than I expected. My purchase was well worth it! I paid just a little more than the NADA value for the combination. It seemed to me that the NADA value was a bit low anyway given the average price everyone was asking for selling these boats. At this point I feel I got a good value. Ask me again at the end of the year and I will be more certain.
