Re: capping the stringer

capping it is gonna be tough, you want 2 layers, of 8 oz,

do your best to have the new glass contact the cured glass on the stringer vertical.

weve gotta come up with a better system.....next time i do theis im gonna reccomend half round or quarter round on the top of the stringers so they can be wrapped propperly

Re: capping the stringer

Next time i do it i might try just thin colth and a bunch of layers first then some thin matt and then some thin cloth and then some regular matt then the 24 oz roving i likt to use. Thats what ive done in the past. Once you get a couple of layers of cloth over it with no air its not that big of a problem. Then you can do whatever you want!

How do you vacuum bag a stringer?

Seems to me it would be possible to seal the bag directly to the inside of the hull in a single layer over the stringer. Then simply pull a vacuum drawing the bag down to the hull. I guess the hard part would be getting a good seal. Duct tape around the perimeter maybe? Then leave the pump running and use a plastic spreader to smooth out all the wrinkles? I would love it if somebody has a good process for this, I have some tall and long stringers. I'm thinking its gonna take a ton of work filleting all those inside corners.
